[May. 20th, 2006|09:05 pm] |
Morning of May 20, 2006: Met an awesome woman named Gabby at my friend Kim’s Block Sale. She’s very very very fun, kind, and she’s into most of the same things I am. And get this, she’s Christian! Finally someone I can hang out with! But the thing is, she’s moving from Fresno to San Luis Obispo. Pretty much FAR AWAY. Ok I’m going to faint. She told me so much about herself, and she’s good friends with Kim so I know she’s an incredible person. Moving… If I don’t faint I’ll cry. The last person I felt this comfortable around was Sina Tui but let’s not get into that.
Noon of May 20, 2006: Booked a 20-hour train ride from Fresno CA to Tacoma WA. I live in Fresno, and my parents will pick me up in Tacoma. The train doesn’t goto my parents town of Yakima so Tacoma (outside of Seattle) was the closest I could get. I’ll be there for 8-ish days, most likely lounging around in the pool with Jacob. I hope my sisters friends don’t temp me to hang out with them, but I’m not worried. I’ll have my Bible and be taking notes the whole time so I can update this journal more. My parents are still trying to sell their previous house on 681 Wenas View Drive in Selah Washington. Their new place on Haysman Rd in Selah is great.
Night of May 20, 2006: Hours after Kim’s Block Sale Extravaganza. Ed Breedlove had an art showing at his home. His girlfriend made gourmet snacks! Ed and his roomie Orin Rowe are two friends I met at Harry’s Bagel Shop on some random Sunday two years back when I moved to Fresno, I met them through my friend Scott who I met through my friend/boss/roomie K. Ed was in a cheerful mood, showed off a beautiful 2-year mural he had recently finished for a bank. I think Ed, Orin, Kim, Scott, K, and a bunch of others all used to attend the same Church years back before I moved here.
Random times throughout May 20, 2006: Courtney sent me some TXT Messages (still no email response) about her driving to see her boyfriend and her new school campus. I really liked Courtney, but it’s not the end of the world. It’s just that most the people my age-ish that I want to hang out with always move away!
Tomorrow I’m going to the class 103 at NorthSide Christian Church in Clovis California.
I need to take a jog, respond to my new friend Gabby, respond to Courtney, figure out what I’ll bring to Washington, do something with my cell phone and iPod, and track down Jacob's new address in WA.
Better be off…

| Daily Events in my life... |
[May. 1st, 2006|04:01 pm] |
Events that took place on April 30, 2006.
* The Sunday Church service was about integrity and stopping worldly deception, and the importance of clear communication in relationships. I’m going to get that sermon on DVD.
* After Church, people met at the bagel shop. People who showed up were Eddy Breedlove, Jeannette and her mother LaVone, Kim, Phil Brewer, Doug, I, and one of Jeanette’s nurse friends.
* After the bagel shop, parts of the group (mainly EvFree Church members) reconvened at Scott’s for a quasi Bible study and typical Kung Fu movie. Attendees were Jim Booze, Anthony Roach, Jen (sigh), Melody, Scott, Doug, and I. After the movie we had our typical discussion about what Proverbs we noticed while watching.
* Later that night Doug and I went over to Jeanette’s house to fix her unresponsive printer, her TV stuck in advertising mode, and talk about religion in foreign countries. Jeanette has friends in Russia and is very fond of other nations and cultures. Jeanette scanned some scripture for me about God singing over us. I was really happy to read it. I told Jeanette how I often get into a extremely-guilty/depressed state of mind due to how I don’t help people as much as I can, and I feel like I have to scream to let out the pressure, so I go on walks at night and my heart is so broken that I start to sing along to my CD player as loud as I can. Sometimes this leads to a relieving feeling of anointing. No houses around, just me, the farm, and the open road. We also talked about torture in China and how Christians in many areas can’t worship in public.
Events that took place on May 01, 2006.
* Doug and I took a nice walk down Cedar Street, per Jeannette’s request for us to be healthier, to Eddy’s Eatery. Later Scott came over; he’s feeling sick from possibly food poisoning and a job site he was on. I don’t think he wears a protective mask or any kind of safety gear, but I feel sorry him nonetheless. |

| On health... |
[Apr. 29th, 2006|10:13 pm] |
I found this great quote on the net, and it applies to everyone in some indirect way.
“Beating yourself up about your bad wake-up habits will not work — in fact, you’ll just condition these mental beatings as part of the very routine you’re trying to change. Not only will you not get up when your alarm goes off, but you’ll also automatically beat yourself up about it. How lame is that? Do you really want to keep running that dumb pattern for the rest of your life? That’s exactly what will happen if you don’t condition a more empowering pattern. For good or ill, your habits will make or break you.” -Pavlina
A few of the many healthy things that can make you rather than break you:
* Supportive community of loving friends. * Organizational habits. * Healthy food that tastes good. (Yes it exists.) * Daily exercising of some kind. * Your language, spoken and body language. * If you smile and give compliments, and also back up your words with actions. * Dedication to your job, friends, family, and your loved ones. * Health Self: Spiritual, Physical, and Mental. * Healthy Environment: Caring friends, a clean house, emotional stability, setting boundaries, etc. * Being 100% honest and positive. * Liquid vitamins made by a good company. * Simple and comforting flow and design of your home decorating. * Looking at the larger picture. * Belonging to a youth group or Church group of some kind. For worship, advice, and they'll keep you on track. * Attending social gatherings that help the community. * Knowing that if you dislike many things, the problem may be your habits.

| Events I’ve attended recently… |
[Apr. 22nd, 2006|07:06 pm] |
April 21 2006: Jon and his wife Coney (owners of Fresno Malavac Corporation) stopped by to ask Doug and I if we wanted to check out some kind of community event. Some sort of art and crafts fair at the university. It wasn’t open yet (does anyone double-check schedules these days?) so we walked around the college campus and went out for Chinese All-You-Can-Eat. Oh man I love Chinese. We also checked out some RV’s and I was somewhat disappointed (yet glad that my quality-predictions were correct) at the everyday-craftsmanship of a 2 million dollar RV. I wanted to be impressed, and that’s difficult with me. We saw some lightning on the way home but no rain. Central California people HATE rain, but being from around Seattle I rather enjoy it. The dry Fresno air is annoying though, I like moist air.
April 20, 2006: Superchick Music Concert. Visalia, CA, Fox Theater. Loud Christian music, jumping people, screaming teenagers, and blinding lights. in other words, I liked it! The people were all very entertaining to observe. Superchick is a fun and meaningful group, not without odd quirks but who am I to complain. i might post photos..?
April 16, 2006: Easter service at Fresno’s Save Mart Center. Stephen Baldwin (movie star) and Natalie Grant (Christian Music Star) were guests. Around 10,000 people showed up, including Fresno’s Mayor.
Recently at home: Prepping for The Granite Superstore. We’ll have to clean up the warehouse and get rid of the carpeting. The offices seem in ok shape, but we’ll repaint pretty much everything anyway. 7,500 square feet, 5K rent… We’ll really have to have low prices to pay off the rent, but it’s going to work out. It’s all on the Lords shoulders, if he wants this to work it will.

| Dear Interwebs, Happy Easter |
[Apr. 16th, 2006|12:52 am] |
I would like to wish everyone a Blessed Easter.
If I had bunny ears, I would wear them and take a photo for you. Thankfully I don't. It's not really about bunnies. And what's with the easter eggs.
One article states, "Easter celebrates the death and resurrection of Jesus as the basis for the salvation of humankind."
I hope you all attend Church this morning. Ah, the fresh spring air, with a good message and humble people to greet you. With all the spring cleaning I've been doing, it'll be nice to relax.
At NorthSide, we tend to do things on a large scale, but it's still relaxing. There will be ten thousand people at the SaveMart Center in Fresno California. Hopefully more. Free, live music by popular bands, really fun, and it happens every year. I think the doors open at 8am..? I havn't thought to advertise it as much as I did last year, but that shouldn't be a problem. Perhaps some of you saw the big NorthSide Easter signs everywhere in Fresno.
Follow along in Church, remember to bring your Bible. For a long winded document on what Christian Easter means, take a glance at the following Wikipedia article. It explains things in far more detail than I ever could. Take it with a teaspoon of sugar, its still not 100% accurate, although many Christians help to correct errors and achieve as best results they could given the public environment: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easter_Sunday
P.S. Why is the easter bunny the luckiest animal in the world? Because it has four rabbit's feet. |

* A proverb in the mouth of a fool hangs limp, like crippled legs.
* Let your foot be seldom in your neighbor's house, lest he have more than enough of you, and hate you.
* Be not a witness against your neighbor without just cause, thus committing folly with your lips.
* A wise man is more powerful than a strong man, and a man of knowledge than a man of might;
* For it is by wise guidance that you wage your war, and the victory is due to a wealth of counselors.

* For if you have not the means to pay, your bed will be taken from under you.
* The eyes of the Lord safeguard knowledge, but he defeats the projects of the faithless.

* A patient man is better than a warrior, and he who rules his temper, than he who takes a city.
* A mild answer calms wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
* Every day is miserable for the depressed, but a lighthearted man has a continual feast.
* He who oppresses the poor blasphemes his Maker, but he who is kind to the needy glorifies him.
* Guilt lodges in the tents of the arrogant, but favor in the house of the just.
* One man pretends to be rich, yet has nothing; another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth.
* He who guards his mouth protects his life; to open wide one's lips brings downfall.
* The way of the fool seems right in his own eyes, but he who listens to advice is wise.
* He who seeks the good commands favor, but he who pursues evil will have evil befall him.
* A newsmonger revealss secrets, but a trustworthy man keeps a confidence.
* When pride comes, disgrace comes; but with the humble is wisdom.
* Hatred stirs up disputes, but love covers all offenses.
* The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord, and knowledge of the Holy One is undertanding.
* The lips of the just know how to please, but the mouth of the wicked, how to pervert.
* The lips of an adulteress drip with honey, and her mouth is smoother than oil; But in the end she is as bitter as wormwood, as sharp as a two-edged sword.

| Attack of the Slippery Shells |
[Mar. 9th, 2003|04:27 am] |
First entry. I have faith that I'll get good use out of this journal.
This will become my only journal, until I can get the name I want. The journal user with my first name got suspended, so perhaps it'll become deleted and I'll be able to use that name. I wish LiveJournal didnt charge a $15 dollar fee for using a deleted name. I'm looking forward to being called "Royce" instead of "Roycebarber".
I also have a journal where I freewrite for hours on end, but it’s a bit of a train wreck. My writing isnt very smooth, it’s about as subtle as a flying brick. A brick with a happy face painted on. It’s a venting ground at times, when I can’t help but to hop onto a soapbox and grumble about the world. In my day we didn’t have soap boxes, we had to stand on giant sea turtles with slippery shells!
